Driscoll, who hails from Perth and stands at 190cm tall, has been with Reading for the past two years as an apprentice.

After impressing with the Royals’ youth teams, the 18-year old has been handed a pro deal.

“It's been my dream ever since I was a kid to sign a pro deal somewhere, and for it to be at the club where I spent the first two years at makes it even more special,” Driscoll told FourFourTwo.

“But I've realised that signing a pro is literally the start of my journey, as every year it'll get even more difficult to make it to the first-team.”

Driscoll arrived at Reading in 2015 after trialing initially with Arsenal and Crystal Palace. He said he has enjoyed his time at the Championship outfit.

“It was a real welcoming club when I first came here as all the coaching staff made sure I'd settled in well,” he said.

“But I've also made some great progress in my game and have achieved stuff that I'd never thought I'd be able to.”

A striker in his junior days, Driscoll converted to goalkeeper at the age of 11. His former clubs in Western Australia include Balcatta FC, ECU Joondalup and Bayswater City.

After playing for Reading’s Under-18s, Driscoll has moved up the Under-23s. The keeper, who aspires to be as good as Czech shot-stopper Peter Cech, wants to test himself with a loan move for senior football this season.

“This season ideally for the first half of the season is go out on loan to a Ryman Premier League team and gain experience and also confidence, then hopefully for the second half go to the Conference South,” he said.
