In Germany Mathew Leckie began the Bundesliga season playing a full match for Hertha Berlin in a 2-2 draw with FC Bayern München. Leckie was stationed at right midfield and had a commendable 90 minutes.
Elsewhere in the Bundesliga, the Socceroos' new hotshot Brandon Borrello made his Bundesliga debut playing 65 minutes in a 3-0 win for SC Freiburg over Mainz.

John Iredale scored his fourth goal for Wolfsburg II as he played 72 minutes in a 2-0 win over Werder Bremen II. Joshua Laws was an unused sub for Fortuna Dusseldorf II in their 2-0 loss to TuS Haltern.
Milos Degenek was at the centre of UEFA Champions League drama with Red Star Belgrade once again. Degenek played 120 minutes and scored his penalty as Red Star beat Kobenhavn 7-6 in the shootout.
In Denmark Awer Mabil started and played 68 minutes for Midtjylland in a 1-1 draw with Hobro. Mabil played the second half as Midtjylland were knocked out of the Europa League losing 7-3 on aggregate to Rangers.
In the Netherlands Ajdin Hrustic played a full 90 minutes as FC Groningen drew 0-0 with AZ Alkmaar. Dylan Ryan was an unused sub as Willem II defeated Fortuna Sittard 3-2. Daniel Bouman was an unused sub for SC Cambuur as they smashed Go Ahead Eagles 5-0.
In Austria James Holland started and was substituted after 53 minutes as LASK Linz as they beat Flyeralarm 1-0. Holland played a full match as Linz defeated FC Basel in their UEFA Champions League qualifying match in midweek.
James Jeggo played 27 minutes off the bench for Austria Wien as they were knocked out of the Europa League qualifying stage 5-2 on aggregate to Apollon Limassol. Jeggo also played a full match against Flyeralarm drawing 1-1.
In Turkey Aziz Behich played a full match for Basaksehir as they lost 3-0 to Malatyaspor. Behich was also an unused sub as Basaksehir were knocked out of UEFA Champions League qualifying, losing 2-0 to Olympiacos.
In Croatia Fran Karacic was absent from NK Lokomotiv Zagreb's squad as they drew 1-1 with Varazdin.
In Israel Nikita Rukavytsya scored and played a full match as Maccabi Haifa defeated Netanya 2-1 away from home.
In Cyprus Apostolos Giannou's AEK Larnaca were knocked out of Europa League qualifying after losing 4-1 on aggregate to Gent. Giannou played a full match and got a yellow card.
