A half-time substitute for Andrew Nabbout as van Maarwijk looked for a traditional target man to feed off the Socceroos delivery. He looked lively coming back from injury but was replaced again with ten minutes to go.
Brad Jones - 4
Australia's second choice came on for just his sixth cap at half-time for Mat Ryan. Some butter fingers early in the half letting a cross slip but saved a free-kick later on in the match. Miscommunication with Trent Sainsbury saw Australia score an own goal.
Mile Jedinak - 7
A marked improvement from the Socceroos when the skipper was introduced at half-time. His passing was confident and calmed down Australia.
Jackson Irvine - 7
Got half an hour of gametime, coming on for Tom Rogic. His movement and passing as Australia advanced in midfield was exceptional and could be a smoky to start against France.
Daniel Arzani - 7
The 19 year old replaced Robbie Kruse with 20 minutes to go. The hero for Australia as he cut inside with a dipping shot that was helped on from some shocking goalkeeping. A spectacular pass opened up Hungary as Irvine crossed for the winning own goal.
Tim Cahill - N/A
Replaced Tomi Juric with ten minutes to go for his 106th cap.
