GOLD Coast United's Andrew Barisic helped himself to a hat-trick as Miron Bleiberg's men dished out a 5-1 thumping to a Byron Bay Select XI.
United rested several of their big-name recruits for the match, including marquee man Jason Culina but still had too much for their opponents.
Barisic opened the scoring on 20 minutes as he headed in a cross from Adama Traore.
Barisic netted his second when he followed up to pounce - Daniel Piorkowski's initial strike having been parried by the Byron Bay keeper.
The home side pulled one back before United restored their two-goal margin soon after courtesy Piorkowski. They added another one through trialist Greg Thomas to make it 4-1 before Barisic completed his hat-trick in the dying minutes.
United continue their build up this week with two more warm up games. Rochedale Rovers are the opposition onTuesday, followed by a clash at Tweed Valley on Thursday. Both games will kick off at 7pm.
Gold Coast then entertain Central Coast Mariners on Saturday.
