David Beckham is set to play football in Australia - against Sydney FC.
Beckham's LA Galaxy last night finalised their deal to jet into Australia to play Sydney FC at Telstra Stadium in November 27.
Melbourne Victory, the current reigning Premiers and Champions, were also keen to play Galaxy and are known to be disappointed on missing out as the match was brokered by the FFA. The proceeds however, are likely to benefit all A-League clubs as they will be spent across the league.
The match is believed to be dependent on Beckham's involvement; it will only go ahead if Beckham is uninjured and able to take part. Also, it is now unlikely Galaxy will go ahead with a planned Asian tour so the Sydney FC match will generate even greater interest in the region.
With a sell-out crowd highly likely, it is set to give football yet another major boost in Australia as it will also be shown live on a yet unnamed free-to-air network.
