For now, the England international returns to the Los Angeles Galaxy to conclude the Major League Soccer season, but he still has his heart set on returning to the Serie A club.

He is able to terminate his contract with the Galaxy at the end of the year, meaning he could return to the Rossoneri from next January, when the next transfer window opens, but there have been rumours he could come back as early as November.

However, he was unable to elaborate on the speculation after helping Milan to a 2-0 win at Fiorentina today, a result which secured third place in Serie A and a direct qualification for the Champions League next season.

"I cannot say anything more on my future compared to two weeks or two months ago," Beckham said.

"Now I go back to Los Angeles for the end of the season and then we will see what happens.

"Still, I hope to come back soon. My thanks go to everybody.

"They have been fantastic to me from start to finish in making me feel part of the squad from the very first minute and I wish them all the best of luck."

Should Beckham return to Milan during next season, he will find a new head coach after Leonardo was today confirmed to replace Carlo Ancelotti.

The England international found warm words for the man who was instrumental in bringing him back to Europe in January.

"With Carlo Ancelotti leaving AC Milan, it is the end of an era, the end of some extraordinary years," Beckham said on the club's website, www.acmilan.com.

"But wherever he goes, they will be a fortunate club to have him as their coach."
