The Hunter outfit re-signed talented goalkeeper Mark Birighitti, securing the 22-year-old at the Jets until the end of the 2015/16 season.

Birighitti impressed in his first season with the club, earning the number one keeper position, winning the club's Player of the Year Award and debuting for the Socceroos at the 2013 East Asian Cup.

“Mark has been a fantastic addition to the Club on and off the field and we were certainly pleased to secure him for the next three seasons,” CEO Robbie Middleby said.

“With Mark and Ben Kennedy, we have two quality goalkeepers and a healthy competition for that number one spot.

“To secure one of the most promising young goalkeepers in the A-League on a long term contract is a major positive for the Jets on the eve of the 2013/14 season kick-off."

Meanwhile, Victory confirmed that rising young midfielder Rashid Mahazi has signed a two-year-deal with the club.

The 21-year-old joins from VPL side Northcote City after playing a starring role during their early dominance of the competition this season.

The Melbourne born midfielder has spent plenty of time with his new Victory teammates, travelling with the squad during the recent tour of Tasmania. He has also made several appearances during pre-season trial matches.

Victory Head Coach, Ange Postecoglou, said the midfielder would provide extra cover in the middle of the park.

"Rashid's performances throughout the pre-season have been very promising and we are looking forward to seeing him further develop as he spends more time with the squad in the lead-up to the season," Postecoglou said.

"We see him as a player with plenty of upside and someone that can fit well into our structures while also providing us with further depth in midfield."
