United have a busy program of matches lined up against local sides over the next month and Bleiberg is anxious to stress that the fixtures are part of his team's training schedule rather than a no holds barred fight for victory.

It means local sides can expect a pre-match chat from Bleiberg as well as their own boss ahead of a hit out.

"Yes, I will talk to the other team before. We have organised these matches as training exercises and we don't want people picking up injuries," Bleiberg told au.fourfourtwo.com. "We want them to be part of our preparations."

United had their first warm up game last week and romped to a 12-1 win. They were back in action last night, taking on Magic United. The margin of victory was closer this time with Gold Coast edging out their hosts 2-1 - Shane Smeltz grabbing both goals. This took his pre-season tally to 11 in two matches.

As well as being part of Gold Coast's A-League preparations, Bleiberg is happy to point out a potential carrot for opposition individuals who impress.

"I was smart enough to leave two spots open," said the Gold Coast coach.

The 'serious' stuff will begin when United are expected to take on both Central Coast Mariners and North Queensland in the second half of June before jetting out for numerous dates in Asia.

They then head back to the Gold Coast to face English Premier League side Fulham in early July.
