To see Bozza back in training...

...and to see the rest of the squad training with Bozza...

Camera crews and photographers lined up to get their shot of the A-League’s most high profile triallist as he walked down the Bluetongue Stadium tunnel.

Midfielder Mile Jedinak joked that Bozza wasn’t coming out as he was too scared. Teammate John Hutchinson grabbed one of the many cameras and roared ‘come on Bozza’ as the media pack waited for him to emerge.

Bosnich, handed the number 19 for his two-week trial, walked on to the pitch with a cheery ‘morning boys’ to the press and to whooping sounds from the Mariners players already on the pitch.

He immediately went to work with fellow keepers Danny Vukovic and Andrew Redmayne under the instruction of goalkeeping coach John Crawley.

Some stretching exercises were first on the agenda, the keeper’s every move captured by a circle of press photographers.

At 11.20am it was time for a spot of gentle catching before Bosnich and his fellow keepers were treated to some shot-stopping courtesy of Crawley.

Ten minutes of throwing himself left and right was followed by a brief drinks break and a chat with Crawley.

Vukovic and Redmayne went off to join the outfield players leaving Bosnich to work on his own with Crawley. Executive chairman Lyall Gorman then emerged for a chat before Bosnich joined the rest of the squad for a practice game.

At 11.55, any nerves Bosnich may have had at being the new boy vanished as he began bellowing advice, orders and encouragement from his goal.

He didn’t shut up for the duration of the game with cries of ‘Come on boys, keep your heads up, keep going’ echoing around Bluetongue.

Ten minutes later it was time for a warm down and then off for a shower before facing the assembled press.

He made all the right noises in the press conference and refused to take anything for granted in terms of being offered a deal.

All in all, this was a relaxed-looking trialist who oozed enthusiasm, courtesy and humour without any sign of big star ego. Whether he is still smiling in two weeks time lies largely in the hands of Lawrie McKinna.
