The former Socceroos keeper has been a big hit since joining Central Coast Mariners on trial.
Two impressive displays between the sticks earned the keeper praise from coach, supporters and opponents alike.
However, McKinna is now looking for closure on the situation and while full of praise for the keeper's contribution, he hasn't been swayed in thinking of him as a long term option.
Speaking today at the A-League launch in Sydney, McKinna told au.fourfourtwo.com: "Mark Bosnich has come in, trained very hard, done very well and fitted in well in the dressing room.
"The club will be sitting down with his manager this week to see what he's looking for.
"We're basically just needing that short term replacement, that's where we're coming from (as a club).
"One way or another (it needs sorting). Mark cannot keep training, he needs to know what he's doing. I just hope by the end of the week we can sort something out."
Whether he stays or goes, McKinna has nothing but admiration for Bosnich's willingness to put himself in the firing line.
He said: "It takes a lot of balls to do that when you don't need to. He's come in and been a credit to himself and his family."
