NEWCASTLE Jets boss Branko Culina believes his team have nothing to be afraid of after hauling themselves out of the A-League basement with victory over North Queensland Fury.
Culina was delighted that his side were able to get back to winning ways after a midweek loss to Wellington Phoenix in New Zealand.
A close range effort from Matty Thompson put the Jets on their way and Michael Bridges wrapped up the win by slotting home a late penalty.
The win left the Jets coach in positive mood and he views the future with optimism.
"I think if we can get a bit of momentum going, and have our best squad available, we're quite capable of hurting every team in the competition," he said.
"We've beaten Gold Coast, we've beaten Central Coast, in my opinion we were very unlucky against both Melbourne and Sydney and they are the frontrunners. So what is there, really, to be afraid of?"
Newcastle will return to A-League action in a fortnight when they take on Wellington Phoenix once again.
