BRANKO Culina had nothing but praise for his players as they left financial worries behind them in the dressing room to record a morale-boosting 2-0 win over Perth Glory.
It has been a tough period at the club with a degree of uncertainty still in the air as club officials continue talks with the FFA.
But for 90 minutes on Friday night, the players focused on the football, winning the clash courtesy of goals from Michael Bridges and Labinot Haliti.
"I'm so pleased for the players, until you've been in a situation that the players have been under ... you don't realise what an effort it was over the last few weeks,'' Culina told AAP.
"I felt we haven't been far away from getting a good result and to the players, thank you, but you deserve all the plaudits.''
Skipper Bridges said: "Every one of us to a man, with what's been going on off the field, knew we had to perform on the field and we have done that, we just needed a bit of luck and thankfully tonight somebody was looking down on us. To get the three points for the area in front of the fans, and the boys to keep a clean sheet we know we have done a good job".
"We weren't at the races in the first half but the second half was a lot better", Perth Glory coach Dave Mitchell said.
We'll go back to the drawing board, it's Adelaide next week who are on top so we need to come out fighting", Perth Glory 'keeper Tando Velaphi said.
