MICHAEL Bridges is hungry to build on his Hunter tally and the alarm bells should be ringing for A-League defenders.
The former Leeds United man struck his first goal for the Jets in the 2-1 win over Central Coast Mariners at the weekend and now he wants more.
He turned superbly before curling a fine strike past Danny Vukovic to put the Jets in front at EnergyAustralia Stadium.
"The sharpness is coming back," he told the Newcastle Herald. "The goal was a big thing. I'd gone two without one and as a striker you're judged on goals, not performances.
"It was nice to have a good game and form a good partnership with Labby (Labinot Haliti). It was there, the timing was just out, and to get one in is a big weight off my shoulders."
As for Haliti, he is delighted to be playing alongside Bridges.
"I'm learning from him. He's played at the highest level," Haliti said. "He's a true professional and a good lad to have around off the pitch also."
Newcastle have a chance to build on their F3 derby triumph when they visit Brisbane Roar on Friday night.
