Glory suffered their first loss of the season when beaten 1-0 by a strike from Gold Coast skipper Jason Culina in Perth last week and Culina senior thinks it may have an effect on the way the Glory play Friday night's match.

"The best thing is that they lost last week," Culina said.

"A lot more is expected of teams at the top and rightly so with the resources they have available for them.

"So their loss is good for us because they may open up somewhat but if they go defensively we are happy with that as well.

"In Perth's couple of games away from home they play far more defensively. Robbie Fowler slips completely in behind and they get behind the ball. So we are prepared for that or prepared for them to open up."

Culina said that the Jets were confident in their style of play and were playing good football despite not getting the results so far this campaign.

"Out of all the games we have played this season probably only Perth for 20 minutes in the second half that have caused us problems and that is because we conceded a goal just before half-time and our heads went down and it took us a little while to get back into it," Culina said.

"But every other team, including Adelaide, who we have played twice and which is clearly on top of the table and has everyone raving about them, and if you look at the statistics we should have won the first game and in the second game we had 15 shots compared to seven.

"I am not happy where we are on the table but at the moment things are not bouncing for us. But it is encouraging to some extent that people are boasting about Adelaide and I think we are not far behind."

In team news the Jets will be without the injured Jobe Wheelhouse while winger Marko Jesic is on duty with the Young Socceroos. Midfielder Ruben Zadkovich is back from suspension while there is an injury concern over striker Michael Bridges.

"He has been carrying a knee problem for the last couple of weeks and he took another knock on it today so we will wait and see," Culina said of Bridges.

"You want your best players available all the times but you have to look after them and because of the number of games coming up you need to be careful with the training loaded and pushing players a bit too much.

"So we will give Bridgey every chance to prove his fitness. We need him, he is our captain but once again we have to be careful especially at this stage of the schedule - we have our first midweek game coming up next Wednesday and we have another game next Saturday."
