A knee injury has meant a frustrating start to the season for Todd, and Bridges won't be complaining if he misses out again this weekend when the Hunter boys head west for Saturday's clash at nib Stadium.

The Jets captain believes Todd is a shining example of an overseas player who has embraced the A-League and given his all.

"Players are coming into this competition to play, they're not just coming here for the money," Bridges told au.fourfourtwo.com.

"Andy Todd is a great example of that. He was an unsung hero (for me) last season.

"I know he got awards over there in Perth but not the A-League recognition."

But the main focus for Bridges is his own side and a need to put teams away. He felt there could be no excuses following the 1-1 draw with Melbourne Heart. They paid the price for failing to take their chances.

"The front four created enough chances in the first half to blow them out of the park," he said.
