Victory captain Muscat is reported to have broken the limb during the Round One clash with Wellington but the displaced fracture of the left arm was only discovered after he complained of pain after last week's game against Perth Glory.

With his side in the midst of an injury crisis, Muscat is said to want to play through the pain and with starters Archie Thompson, Leigh Broxham, Ljubo Milicevic and Joseph Keenan all missing due to injury or international duty, he might have to.

"I don't know what precautions I can use, but it's not going to stop me doing what I need to do," Muscat told Melbourne's Herald Sun.

"I played on the weekend, but we'll take precautions during the week and then I want to play on Friday. We're running out of bodies."

Hopes of Muscat wearing a protective arm guard were ruled out, with rule four of the FIFA Laws of the Game stating: "A player must not use equipment or wear anything that is dangerous to himself or another player."
