SYDNEY FC striker Alex Brosque could be poised for a loan spell with Shanghai Shenhua as he celebrated a double strike at the club's awards night.
Brosque dominated proceedings at the club's 2009 Awards Night, voted Player's Player by his peers in Sydney's Hyundai A-League team after a strong season in Sky Blue.
The 25-year-old also claimed another of the major gongs on Saturday night, winning his second-straight Star City Golden Boot award after holding off strong challenges from club Captain, Steve Corica and striker, Mark Bridge with a double in the final round of the competition against the Newcastle Jets.
And he could now be poised for a spell in China with Sydney FC's sister club after Sydney's friendly clash there last week.
Sydney CEO Stefan Kamasz told the Sydney Morning Herald: "They were especially interested in having Alex and Simon Colosimo come over for a few months and I would expect there will be some further discussions over the next few days.
"We also spoke about the possibility of bringing over some of their players to Australia on loan and we're awaiting some more DVDs on those players. We just need to clarify some issues with FFA to make sure we're not circumventing the salary cap with what we'd like to do."
Rising star, Rhyan Grant took out the award for Player's Player in Sydney's Championship winning National Youth League side, and Danielle Brogan claimed the Westfield W-League Player's Player award, following a strong season with Sydney in the inaugural year of that competition.
After winning the overall Hyundai A-League award for best goal of the seaon in 2007/08, departing forward, Brendon Santalab was again rewarded for another stunning strike during the 2008/09 campaign, with his long-range rocket against Adelaide United in round-5 voted Fan's Goal of the Season by Sydney FC's supporters.
Having guided the Sky Blues' National Youth League team to both the Championship and the Premiership, Coach, Steve O'Connor rounded out the evening and a highly successful season for Sydney's juniors, collecting the Chairman's Award from out-going club Chairmain, Andrew Kemeny.
The 2009 Awards Night marked the official end of season 2008/09 for Sydney FC. The club's senior squad will now take a break before returning for Pre-Season training under new Head Coach, Vitezslav Lavicka in late April.
