SYDNEY FC striker Alex Brosque believes the club's looming bye has come at a good time as he eyes a return to action.
Brosque has been badly missed with an ankle injury but he is making progress and may well be in contention for the Gold Coast clash, along with skipper Terry McFlynn (hamstring) and Nick Carle (toe).
The Sky Blues are rock bottom but a weekend off gives everyone a chance to take stock of the situation.
"Everyone will be back on board for the Gold Coast game as well which is a positive and we can't leave it too much longer to start getting results," Brosque told AAP.
"As a team, when you go through a patch like this you can start to get irritated and annoyed and the boys start to possibly get on each other's nerves a little bit.
"So I think it's just a good week to unwind and relax and I guess forget about the situation we're in for a couple of days."
Following the Gold Coast clash, Sydney then face North Queensland Fury and Adelaide United.
