PERTH Glory have added West Australian midfielder Scott Bulloch to their squad for next season.
Bulloch has been one of the stand-out performers in the Football West Premier League with Sorrento and was a key member of the WA State Team, scoring two goals for WA against Glory in a friendly match in June.
The left sided midfielder has been training with Glory’s senior squad for the past month and featured in the club’s pre-season cup draw against Adelaide in Mount Gambier.
Bulloch has been on the club’s radar for a number of seasons but the 23 year old was committed to completing his training with the West Australian Police Force where he has now served for the past two years.
Having been granted extended leave by WA Police, Bulloch will now have the opportunity to pursue his love of football at the elite level and can’t wait to be part of the match day atmosphere on the pitch after watching from the sidelines for many years.
“The timing has been perfect,” said Bulloch who will celebrate his 24th birthday on Wednesday.
“I’m really grateful to WA Police for allowing me to take up this opportunity and I can’t wait to run out with my new team mates this season.”
Glory Coach Dave Mitchell believes Bulloch will be a handy player who can be called upon to play a variety of roles for the club.
“He’s very versatile, has two good feet and can play anywhere down the left for us,” Mitchell said.
“Scotty is someone I’ve had my eye on for a while. He is very keen to be a professional player and give it a crack and things have fallen into place that will allow him to do that which is fantastic.”
Perth Glory have 22 players contracted for the 2008/09 season and Bulloch’s inclusion brings the number of local players on the club’s roster to ten.
“There are quality players locally and I’ll continue to give them the opportunities to play with Glory if they’re up to the standard,”
said Mitchell.
“We have a terrific mix of players this season and I’m confident that WA football fans will have plenty to get excited about when the season kicks-off.”
