Perth have sent Melbourne packing in the last four meetings on WA soil but Burns is not expecting that run to continue as a matter of course when the two sides clash on Sunday.

"Everyone keeps saying that we're good against Melbourne and in the past we've done this and we've done that but this is a crucial clash and we can't take anything for granted," Burns told Glory's club website.

"We'll take a positive attitude into the game and are looking forward to taking on Melbourne however past results means little, they're a great side and we need to be on our toes."

Despite recent slip ups on the road, Mitchell's men remain in the race for honours but Burns is warning that Glory cannot continue to rely on others to do them a favour.

He added: "We've been very fortunate with some of the results that have gone our way so it's kept us there, but we can't keep slipping up and relying on other results."
