It's understood that the Melbourne attacking midfielder's mooted deal to Central Coast is still not confirmed – with Victory and perhaps another club launching last minute bids or offering upgraded terms.

Caceres, 26, starred for Victory last Saturday in the club's 1-1 draw with an A-League Socceroo line up at Telstra Dome.

He dominated Michael Thwaite in the match, and could even have prompted Pim's decision to send the 'Roo back to Norway. His impressive performance may have been enough to persuade Victory coach Ernie Merrick to do all he can to keep the star.

The former Perth Glory player has not been a regular in Merrick's side which, it's said, has been one of the reasons why he is considering a move away from the season two champions.

Buenos Aires-born Caceres is a former Hull City and Yeovil Town player who played 20 times for Victory this season but started in only 11. He scored three goals.
