With Victory out of the finals, it has opened the way for the popular midfielder to resume his international career with Hernandez poised to be selected for Costa Rica's friendly against Iran away on January 30 .

And Hernandez could also play against Jamaica six days later on February 6.

Hernandez's form over the last month has been outstanding for the reigning A-League premiers with some dazzling goals and assists.

The 25-year-old scored six goals in 17 internationals for Costa Rica before signing for Victory in the off-season. He also played two matches at the 2006 World Cup – against Ecuador and Poland.

Costa Rica's last game was a 1-0 home loss to Sweden on January 13. Their two previous games were 1-1 draws against Panama and Haiti.
