NICK Carle is on a mission to add goals to his game and help fire Crystal Palace into the Premier League next season - rewarding the club that has made him feel wanted.
Carle's switch from Bristol City to Palace came as something of a surprise but the player himself has revealed it was hardly a wrench.
He told the Croydon Advertiser: "I had a great time at Bristol City - but when one gaffer says that they really want you and the other accepts an offer for you - moving is an easy decision to make.
“The attraction of playing in London wasn't a big thing for me at all. I just feel that I've got a better chance of achieving what I want to achieve at this club."
Carle failed to find the net in English football last season and he knows it is something he has to put right.
He said: "I've still got a long way to go; for me it's about keeping my head down because I know I've still got a lot to prove.
“I'm definitely looking to add goals to my game next season. “There're improvements to make in everyone's game and I'm a player who likes to work hard on my weaknesses. I feel there's got to be a lot more goals from me next season.
“I'm hoping I do manage to get on the scoresheet a few times this season because I know how important it is to score goals from midfield. I always feel very comfortable creating but I've got to get myself in more goalscoring positions.”
And having missed out in the Championship play-off final last season, Carle is in no mood for a repeat.
“For me a successful season would be getting to the Premier League. I want to play at the highest level possible so I really want to push for that.
“I would be disappointed with anything other than promotion," he said.
