NICK Carle left it late to score as Sheffield United drew 2-2 with Crystal Palace in the English Championship.
Sheffield United manager Kevin Blackwell was critical of the time added on at the end of his side's 2-2 home draw to Crystal Palace after seeing the visitors score an equaliser in the 95th minute.
"It's a bit frustrating to say the least," said Blackwell.
"Where he's got the time from I don't know but you can't complain about referees, can you?
"We knew it was going to be tough and there was all the stuff about Neil Warnock coming back but we dealt with that and looked as though we were going to win.
"We should have been smart and kept the ball in the corner at the end. It's a cruel game and I'm sick, to be honest."
Palace boss Neil Warnock hailed team's battling qualities.
He said: "It was a great fightback and I'm proud of them. We never give in."
Warnock singled out Patrick McCarthy for special praise after the defender turned in a good performance a week after suffering a dislocated shoulder.
"I thought he was magnificent," said Warnock.
"He was still a bit sort yesterday, which was understandable. A consultant told him that if he could stand the pain, he wouldn't cause any more damage.
"It was one of those games where you had to be tough. It would have been cruel on him if his alleged push on Beattie for the penalty had cost us the game. I don't think the game deserved to be decided by that."
The home side opened the scoring four minutes before the break following a defensive error from Jose Fonte.
The defender's attempted back header was intercepted by Nathan Dyer who ran through the middle and beat Julian Speroni with a low shot.
Palace drew level two minutes after the break with a goal from McCarthy.
John Oster's corner caused problems for the United defence and McCarthy fired in a shot from eight yards which Paddy Kenny got a hand to but could not keep out.
The visitors threatened to take the lead when Shaun Derry struck the bar with a firm drive and McCarthy, following up, put the rebound over from close range.
After a hooked shot from Ugo Ehiogu went wide, Palace again wasted a good chance when Victor Moses failed to beat Kenny from close range.
The Blades thought they had won when Beattie scored an 88th minute penalty after he had been fouled by McCarthy inside the area but Carle had the final say when he equalised with virtually the last kick of the game.
