Buckley was originally brought in to restructure the club and introdcued a wave of changes to its organisation including doubling memberships for the coming season to 3842 members (up from 1650 last year), increasing corporate hospitality and hitting sponsorship targets.

Now though Buckley is said to be "moving on to other projects" while Roar look to build on last season's success.

It's understood the FFA are now in advanced negotiations with wealthy Indonesian investors, The Bakrie family, who are expected to announce a finalised deal that will see them buy into the club as part of a new consortium of owners.

In the meantime, Bowers will take up the role of acting CEO.

“Over the past six months, my focus has been on making Brisbane Roar FC as ‘saleable’ as possible given this was FFA’s number one imperative,” said Eugenie Buckley.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with the club and believe Brisbane Roar is now in a fantastic position to establish itself as one of the premier sporting clubs in Queensland.”

A-League chief Lyall Gorman said Buckley's efforts had left a healthy legacy at the club.

“The work Eugenie has done in this space has been excellent and she has put Brisbane Roar Football Club on very firm footing as they head towards defending their Hyundai A-League 2011 Championship,” he said.

“While losing a great performer like Eugenie Buckley is a disappointment we thank her for her tireless efforts in reshaping the club.

“There will always be place for Eugenie in the football family and we wish her well for all her future endeavours.”
