The duo have been working hard with strength and conditioning coach Clark in the last few days and if they are given the nod for Saturday’s match then there should be no concerns about petrol in the tank.

He told au.fourfourtwo.com: “They’ve been working really hard with me and it has been some quite high intensity stuff.

“There’s been plenty of power work and repeated sprints. The thing is there’s a hell of a carrot dangling here for these guys. They really want this international opportunity.

“These aren’t guys who are groaning and complaining at the end of an exercise. I think the fact they’re saying to me ‘what’s next?’ tells you everything you need to know.

“It is hard work but they can see the benefits and they want to give themselves the best possible chance."

Clark won’t be on the plane to Singapore but remains hopeful that he will still be in Gosford next season to continue preparing international hopefuls.

He confirmed to au.fourfourtwo.com that he did hold talks with the Gold Coast Galaxy but would love to remain with his home town club.

The 33-year-old, who is currently studying for his Masters, said: “Yes, I had discussions with them and I think it would be a positive thing to have them in the A-League. But the Central Coast is my home and the club has indicated that they would like me to stay here.

“I think it’s just a question of meeting in the middle somewhere (in terms of a new deal). I still feel I’ve a lot to offer.”

Another reason for wanting to stay is the chance to link up on the right hand side with new signing Ahmad Elrich. Clark said: “I played with Ahmad at Parramatta Power and always thought he had the potential to be a game-winning player.

“He’s had his injury problems but I’m looking forward to working with him here to help him become even better.”
