EXCLUSIVE: Joel Griffiths is a long way from hanging his boots up but he's already putting steps in place for his coaching career.
The striker has revealed that he is keen to stay involved in the game and he admits that coaching is something that he is keen to pursue.
When the day comes, Griffiths will have no hesitation in combining his own ideas with those he has taken on board from numerous figures who have helped his own career.
"After my (playing) career ends then I want to get into coaching or some kind of youth development," he told au.fourfourtwo.com.
Griffiths is a keen student of the game and he makes detailed notes of the sessions and ideas that he feels have been beneficial to his development.
"I keep a scrapbook or diary of the ideas that I've got from various coaches who I've worked with. There's stuff in there from Guus Hiddink, Pierre Littbarkski, Dutchy (Gary van Egmond), Mark Jones, Ian Crook, coaches in China and Switzerland," he said.
Griffiths also had a largely unhappy spell with English side Leeds United. He said: "No, I haven't got anything from Kevin Blackwell in there.
"I'll keep adding to the scrapbook and so hopefully when the times comes I'll have the very best ideas from a wide variety of different people."
His immediate plans are ending the season with Beijing Guoan once he completes his five-match suspension. Whether he returns to Newcastle or remains in China remains to be decided.
Meanwhile, brother Adam insists he has played his final game for the Jets. He is suspended for the final group match and fully intends to be training with new club Gold Coast if and when Newcastle play their match in the last 16 of the competition.
