To see the new boys at today's training session...

The duo reported for the first day of pre-season training today and cannot wait to get stuck into some hard work ahead of August’s big kick-off.

Macallister has swapped life in Norway for his first crack at the A-League while Elrich joins the Mariners after spending last season with the Wellington Phoenix.

Just pulling on the boots for pre-season is a massive plus for Elrich who has seen his career blighted by injury for much of the last two years.

Speaking after his first training session in Gosford, he said: “I’m looking forward to training with the boys and having a pre-season after not having had one for two years.

“Having Clarky (Andrew Clark) pushing me I’ll be fit and ready to go. The boys are a great bunch of guys and I’m looking forward to having a good season with them.”

Elrich’s brother Tarek dashed dreams of a Central Coast double last season but he sees no reason why that bitter memory cannot be banished this year.

He said: “That’s the aim. You always try and improve on what you did the season before. So the only improvement is winning the grand final. We have the team to do it, we’ve just got to work hard and be consistent.

“Personally, I just want to play as many games as possible, try and score more than six or seven goals and have an injury-free successful season. And get back in the national team.”

Macallister is also confident of success this year after a frustrating final year with Lyn Oslo.

He said: “Today is day one, we’re all here and ready to go to do whatever we can for the Coast and for each other.

“Last year wasn’t so good as I didn’t get enough games so I was looking for a change. The A-league has been taking off and I’m really happy.

“The Central Coast has been doing really well. I think it’s easy to say they are the best team in the country.

"Their performance shows it and I can’t see any reason why it won’t continue. Lawrie (McKinna)has done fantastic. I’ve been under him at the old Northern Spirit. There’s going to be some good times ahead I think.”
