EXCLUSIVE: Sydney FC skipper Steve Corica has vowed to carry on playing next season if he feels as fresh as he does right now.
Corica may be 35 but his performances this season have been hailed by coach John Kosmina as an example to his younger peers on occasions.
Now in possession of the captain's armband following Tony Popovic's decision to retire, Corica is enjoying his football and doesn't seem in a rush to follow Poppa into retirement.
Corica has maintained a stance that he would monitor his situation throughout the course of the current season and listen to what his body is telling him.
At the halfway point of the campaign it certainly seems to be a case of so far so good.
Corica told au.fourfourtwo.com: "At the moment I feel fine and physically good. If I feel as I do now at the end of the season then why not (continue playing).
"I'll decide at the end of the season."
Corica has vowed that his captaincy will be more than simply a matter of pulling on an armband and tossing a coin in the centre circle. He said: "I think it's about leading by example on the pitch."
The skipper has yet to taste victory though and his next chance comes on Friday night when Sydney FC entertain Queensland Roar at the SFS.
