Kiwi striker Vaughan Coveny is upset the Jets have snubbed him since the club was dumped out of the A-League finals in February.
Despite the big Kiwi scoring two vital goals in the 2007 A-League finals and being a regular impact player off the bench, he says Newcastle has given him the cold shoulder.
“It’s disappointing. I haven’t heard a word from anyone at Newcastle since my contract finished after the Adelaide match [on February 11]. Not even a phone call to see how I am,” the 35-year-old told www.au.fourfourtwo.com from his home in Melbourne.
“If they could tell me either way if they want me or not, that would really help. I think I have another season or two in me.
“They’ve continued to train up there [in Newcastle] but because my contract finished, I left the club and returned to Melbourne. Unfortunately, I missed out on the start of the Victorian Premier League season as well.”
Coveny has scored nine times in 31 appearances (starting 26 times) since joining the Jets midway through season one of the A-League.
