Coyne was given his marching orders by referee Matthew Breeze for engaging in serious foul play when he appeared to slide into Jets midfielder Jin-Hyung Song.

However footage of the incident clearly showed the defender made contact with the ball and the club made an application for an Obvious Error which was considered by the independent Match Review Panel.

The Match Review Panel upheld the application deciding that, in possession of all the facts (including the Fox Sports broadcast footage), no red card or yellow card was warranted.

Coyne is now free to play in Perth's next match against Queensland and the red card has been expunged from his record.

“We felt as though we had a very strong case and we’re thankful that the Match Review Panel shared our view that the tackle did not warrant an infringement,” said Glory CEO Scott Gooch.

“The footage shows quite clearly that Jamie cleared the ball and any contact was incidental.

“Jamie is our Captain and a key figure on the field so to have him available for our next match is great news for the club.”

Jets ring-in Daniel Piorkowski was less lucky with his red card in the same game. The independent Match Review Panel issued Piorkowski with the minimum two match ban.

The Match Review Panel also reviewed the touch line incident involving Perth Glory's Nikita Rukavytsya and Newcastle's Jobe Wheelhouse but said the incident was seen by the referee and accordingly it has no jurisdiction to intervene.
