JASON Culina insists there will be no trophy talk in the Gold Coast United camp as they prepare for the final four matches of their inaugural A-League campaign.
With United leading the pack at the top of the ladder, questions have been coming thick and fast on the club's title credentials, but the level-headed Socceroo warned that a lot can happen over the final four rounds.
"We're not thinking about Premierships or any of that kind of thing, the only thing on our minds is the next game," Culina said.
"Melbourne still have a game in hand on us, Sydney are very much in the mix, so you won't hear any talk of Premierships from us. The only thing we are thinking about is our next match.
"Sure, there are only four games to go, but to me that's an eternity. A lot can happen in four games.
"The position we are in at the moment is a good one and we want to maintain that. This group has said all along that we want to achieve and do well, but to do that we have to get something from this game against the Mariners."
After a dominant display in last week's win over Sydney FC, United will be going for a repeat performance at Bluetongue Stadium.
But Culina and company are expecting another battle with Lawrie McKinna's side, and have not forgotten the humbling 3-0 defeat back in round seven.
"The last time we travelled to Gosford, it wasn't a very pleasant experience, so our focus is to get a decent result this time," said Culina.
"We want to win every game that we have left in the season and every effort will be made to achieve that. Central Coast are a good team and they play good football, as well as being a tough side to play against.
"The right result is what we're after and hopefully we can do that by playing some good football like we have been doing over the last few weeks."
Miron Bleiberg has named a provisional 17-man squad for the game with Matt Osman and the fit-again Charlie Miller added to the line-up that disposed of Sydney FC last Sunday.
With Brazilian midfield enforcer Robson slated to begin his comeback from a knee injury in the Youth Team this weekend and Ivorian left-back Adama Traore also on the road to recovery, Bleiberg is likely to have close to a full squad of fit players to choose from for the run to the finish line.
However the United boss was circumspect on his side's title chances, preferring to echo the sentiments of his skipper, despite his side only losing once since they last faced the Mariners, seven games ago.
"It's nice to be where we are at the moment, but nobody is getting carried away. There are four games to go and only time will tell if we can maintain our position. The first part of the answer to that question will be after the game on Friday night," said Bleiberg.
"Our fate is in our hands and we don't have to depend on anybody else's results, but equally, we will have no-one to blame if it doesn't go our way.
"We were beaten there (Central Coast) convincingly last time and we would like to think we have learned from that. I believe we've matured a lot since then and it's up to us to take that into the game.
"We have the majority of our players available, we're hungry for the result and we're playing well, so we have every reason to be positive."
