Already stung by the departure of key marksman Shane Smeltz to Chinese Super League outfit Shandon Luneng, Culina's impressive showing in Australia's final two matches at the FIFA World Cup has undoubtedly put forward his credentials for another stint overseas.

Linking up with his Gold Coast teammates for the first time on Thursday, the former PSV Eindhoven star was less than convincing when pressed about his playing future saying: "I don't want to talk about any offers and I'm happy to be here...I have two more years and I am confident of seeing out my contract."

After a three-week break, Culina looked fit, refreshed and keen to get reacquainted with his United teammates.

"It's really good to be back into it and to see all the boys again," he said. "I had a bit of a break after the World Cup but the new Hyundai A-League season isn't too far away now so I'm really looking forward to getting back to training.

"I'm feeling pretty good and I didn't want to lose too much in the way of fitness, especially after all the hard work we did in South Africa to get into top physical condition.

"Coming back to Australia and Gold Coast United is something I'm very pleased about and I'm going to really enjoy myself this season."

Culina put his faith in Gold Coast's current squad to press on after last season's solid entry into the competition despite the loss of strike ace Smeltz.

"Of course Shane leaving has left a hole, but we definitely have the players to fill it," he said. "We have a very good squad here and that's what it's all about.

"If someone new comes in then great, but in the meantime we have to focus on ourselves and the players we currently have. With everybody fit we will have a very good team - like we did last season - and everyone is positive and confident that we can do well again," he said.

Before sharpening his focus on the upcoming Hyundai A-League season, Culina reflected on his time in South Africa, and of course, ‘that game' against Germany in the opening Group D encounter.

"The World Cup is a great experience and I'm fortunate that South Africa was my second tournament," he said.

"It's a huge event and something that's great to be a part of. You're playing against the best players in the world and those are the things you want to experience in your career.

"I'm satisfied with how we went over there. We pretty much matched what we did last time [in 2006] and unfortunately a lot of people are focussing on our performance against Germany in the first match.

"We played a lot of that game with only ten men and when you look at what Germany went on to do against England and Argentina; on reflection it wasn't as bad as it seemed at the time.

"Overall it was a really good effort from the boys and the way we bounced back in our last two games showed what a good team we are."

When asked about his future plans in international football and his availability for the national team, the Socceroo midfielder gave a clear, unambiguous answer.

"Of course I want to carry on - most definitely," he vowed. "I love playing for the Socceroos and I'll make myself available for every match. To play for your country is the highest honour you can achieve in football.

"I'm only 29 so I'm still pretty young! I can see myself playing for at least another five or six years and that would include the period of the next World Cup."

Gold Coast United Head Coach, Miron Bleiberg, welcomed back his skipper and at the same time affirmed that he is happy with his current squad, with or without any new additions to the roster.

After the inevitable transfer links with a number of high-profile players, Bleiberg said his existing group was more than capable of getting the job done.

"Jason is back, which is great for us, and I am happy with the players we have. We did well last year and this is now our second season, so we believe we are better equipped this time around," said Bleiberg.

"He [Jason] brings a lot to our team and his presence will lift everyone around the club. We can now all work towards the start of the season together and if we manage to sign a replacement for Shane Smeltz then the sky is the limit."
