Former South Africa international Sibusiso Zuma, Chinese striker Zhang Shuo and Italian midfielder Marcello Fiorentini have all impressed during a week-long trial in the Hunter.

Culina told the Newcastle Herald he was mulling over a decision on the trialists as he seeks to fill the Jets final two spots on their squad.

"There is not a great deal of difference between them," he said. "It's a matter of weighing up the pros and cons and seeing which will be best suited to us, at what price, and in the positions we are looking for.

"If we don't go ahead with these guys we have to look at our other options.

"It is trying to get the right balance, that is the thing.

"You have Zuma, who has played 67 times for South Africa, and obviously has a good pedigree. But he is 35 and is more of a No.10 than a No.9.

"On the other hand you have the Chinese boy Zhang, who has other qualities but not the ones Zuma has.

"What I do know is the quality of these individuals is good, that is what is making us think a bit harder.

"We will make a decision over the next couple of days because we have to let them know where they stand. It won't drag on."

Culina also revealed goalkeepers Paul Henderson and Griffin McMaster will trial with the club later in pre-season with the possibility of a permanent deal for one of the pair.
