PERTH Glory’s attempts to secure Ivory Coast striker Eugene Dadi have been thwarted at the final hurdle, the club has confirmed.
The striker’s former club failed to release him before the Hyundai A-League transfer window deadline.
Dadi and his management had agreed in principle to terms with Glory but were unable to secure a release from Israeli club Hapoel Acre before the midnight November 30 cut-off.
Perth officials were impressed with Dadi’s tenacity and ability to put the ball in to the back of the net during his week long trial and coach Dave Mitchell was keen to add the experienced striker to the club’s squad.
“Perth Glory is extremely disappointed at the failure of Hapoel Acre FC to assist Eugene continue his career in the A-League,” said Glory CEO Scott Gooch.
“It’s a frustrating situation because both the Glory and Eugene wanted to extend his stay in WA but that isn’t feasible now this season.
“He certainly left a favourable impression and will remain a player of interest in our recruiting for next season,” Mr Gooch added.
