“Nothing’s been said, I think everyone knows it. The players are sometimes too friendly. Of all important days Saturday is a game where we can’t be too friendly,” the Heart striker implored today.

Heart are known for recruiting players based primarily on their character. A squad of 23 good people helps with team harmony on and off the pitch but now Williams says it’s time to get nasty.

"This game is the perfect occasion," he said.

"For us, it's do-or-die - the team hasn’t won a game yet. It could be a high scoring game and hopefully if we can get 40,000 fans it’d be an electric atmosphere

"We have to be more aggressive and more willing to win the ball. That's what we talk about, winning your duels and winning your battles.

"But not just against Victory, we’ve got to be consistent throughout the whole league. I think we do that sometimes, but sometimes isn't good enough."

The big news of the day was the withdrawal from the derby of Fred.

The injured playmaker is a huge loss for the red and whites but Williams was keen to stress Heart shouldn’t rely on one player to make things happen.

"We can't depend on one player to get results," he said. “But hopefully this isn’t the game they [Victory] start to gel.”

And the former Fury, Roar and Brondby striker added that the occasion of the derby with the size of the crowd would lift some players.

"The best test is the biggest test," he said. "And this will be it."
