LEICESTER City are unlikely to bolstered by the presence of former Holland international Edgar Davids when they seek to halt QPR's run of three straight wins at Loftus Road tonight.
The 36-year-old former Juventus and Tottenham midfielder is a free agent after leaving Ajax in July 2008 and the Foxes have expressed their interest.
Chairman Milan Mandaric has given Davids until the end of this week to decide if he wants to move to resurrect his career at the Walkers Stadium, but the player's representatives have so far failed to respond to City's offer.
"It is still touch and go and it is in his hands," Mandaric told the Leicester Mercury.
"I am a bit concerned the offer has been sitting there for four or five days and that Davids is not being prompt in making a decision.
"But we won't let this drag on past the next couple of days."
Even if a deal was to materialise, Davids would be a spectator as Nigel Pearson's men seek a third straight win to extend their unbeaten run to six matches.
Pearson is set to continue with the same squad, with Bulgarian defender Aleksandar Tunchev remaining the only absentee as he recovers from another knee operation.
QPR have fought off a bout of swine flu to win their last three matches, scoring 12 goals in the process with defeats of Preston (4-0), Reading (4-1) and Derby (4-2) to lie seventh, one point outside the play-off places.
Victory by three goals or more against the Foxes could propel Jim Magilton's side into the second automatic promotion spot, above Cardiff on goal difference and one point behind Championship leaders Newcastle.
Rangers will be boosted by the availability of utility man Mikele Leigertwood, one of three players afflicted by swine flu in recent weeks.
The 26-year-old returned as a substitute at Derby last weekend and will push for a start either in midfield or at right-back.
Goalkeeper Radek Cerny and defender Peter Ramage have also been affected by the virus, although both have now recovered.
On-loan Wigan midfielder Ben Watson is absent for the hosts, missing the second of his two-match suspension for his sending-off against the Royals.
Rangers have a host of other absentees: captain Martin Rowlands is out for the season with a cruciate injury, defender Matthew Connolly is still missing with glandular fever and midfielder Hogan Ephraim (ankle), winger Lee Cook (knee) and strikers Angelo Balanta (groin) and Alessandro Pellicori (knee) are also sidelined.
