N'golo Kante (CM) - 7

Quick to pounce onto any loose ball in midfield - which happened often in an untidy affair - but his passing was disappointing.

Steven N'Zonzi (CM) - 6.5

He did his job - but no more than that. His short passing was well-measured but he didn't take any great risks, when risks were what were needed against such overly-reserved opposition.

Ousmane Dembele (RW) - 3

Difficult to dispossess on the rare occasion he had the ball, but Dembele was merely a spectator for much of the match, and damningly, did little to try to change that. He should have been subbed long before his number was raised on 78 minutes.

Antoine Griezmann (AMF) - 5

So very subdued. A huge tournament was anticipated for Griezmann in the run-up to Russia, but he's yet to fully click into gear.

A number of loose touches and miscued crosses blotted his first half. Didier Deschamps subbed him after 69 minutes and may need to tweak his formation to bring the best out of his would-be - and should-be - star-man.

Thomas Lemar (LW) - 6

Lemar is France's delivery man from set pieces in this tournament, and he generally got them right on the money, curling them with purpose into dangerous corridors. In open play though, his forward runs led him into to blind alleys.

Olivier Giroud (CF) - 6.5

Giroud did what Giroud does - backing into defenders and demanding the ball, before turning it wide for his teammates. That, he did adequately. His shooting was woeful.

SUBS

Benjamin Mendy - 7

Introduced just five minutes into the second half for Hernandez and delivered a few decent crosses into the box. A few dud ones too, though.

Nabil Fekir - 8

Thrashed a shot into the side netting inside a minute of his introduction to stir the spectators from their second-half slumber. He also forced Schmeichel into his first meaningful save with a smart shot from the edge of the area, and threw a few tricks into the mix, too.

Kylian Mbappe - N/A

Introduced too late in the day to affect any change.
