Djulbic was sent packing after allegedly spitting at referee Peter Green just 22 minutes into the game at Sydney Football Stadium.

His reaction to the penalty decision after Sydney's Steve Corica was brought down in the box earned him a straight red.

Today the FFA's new match review panel looked at the incident again and added an extra four weeks to his automatic one match suspension.

But they downgraded his offence from an R3 - spitting at a match official, as alleged by match ref Green - to an R6 one of simply showing dissent.

A statement from the FFA added: "Dino Djulbic of Perth Glory is guilty of unsporting conduct toward a match official.

"[The panel] has proposed a sanction of five matches."

Had the player been found to have spat directly at the referee, he could have faced a ban of between six weeks and 18 months.

The panel also reviewed video from the first game of the weekend and found Jets youngster Adam D'Appuzo had handled the ball and denied Victory a 'clear goal scoring opportunity'.

The panel - chaired by former referee Barry Such and including former Socceroo Alan Davidson and another former referee, Simon Micallef- has proposed he should be banned a week for the offence.

Both have until noon tomorrow to lodge an appeal.

However Mark Bosnich escaped any further action for his reckless tackle in the box that gave Roar a penalty against Central Coast Mariners.

And Roar's Danny Tiatto also escaped any further action for his incident with Matty Simon in the same match.

The FFA defended the role of the new panel today, saying: "The Match Review Panel has the role of reviewing match incidents including all red card offences, proposing sanctions, rectifying obvious errors in disciplinary decisions and referring matters to the independent Disciplinary Committee if appropriate."
