CENTRAL Coast Mariners will look to end a miserable recent record against Wellington Phoenix when the two teams meet in Dubbo for a pre-season clash next month.
The sides will meet on Saturday July 25 at Apex Oval with the match scheduled to kick off at 6pm.
"Our club is committed to spreading the football gospel to the wider community and is passionate about continuing to expand the support base of the Mariners," said Mariners executive chairman Lyall Gorman.
"People in the Central West have proven their love of the game in the past and we think Dubbo deserves a chance to witness top class football.
"We thank everyone at Western Football NSW for the effort they have made, and congratulate them in successfully attracting top class football to the region, and look forward to contributing to its continued growth in the Central West.
"I know the lads always enjoy taking matches to new locations and I'm sure everyone will be excited about the prospect of introducing themselves to the people of Dubbo. I was out there last week and was impressed with what I saw."
Mariners football manager Lawrie McKinna added: "There is a large football community out there, so it should make for a fantastic spectacle."
The clash will provide the perfect platform for the Mariners to go in search of an elusive goal against their trans-Tasman rivals, having not netted in the past three matches involving the two sides.
It will also be a chance for Mariners marksman Adam Kwasnik to renew acquaintances with the club he left to rejoin the Mariners at the end of last season.
The Mariners visit will involve community activities scheduled around the match, details of which will be announced in due course.
Ticketing details will also be advised once final details are confirmed.
