JAMES Holland has completed his transfer from Newcastle Jets to AZ Alkmaar and signed a four-and-a-half year deal with the Dutch leaders.
The 19-year-old had been on trial at the DSB Stadion last month and did sufficiently well to earn a permanent switch - the good news coming shortly before Christmas.
AZ sporting director Marcel Brands told the club's website: "(He's a) real box-to-box midfielder. He has fantastic drive and a fantastic mentality."
"He made an excellent impression on us and he sees the Dutch competition as a good step in his development.
"This guy really wants to play. But we will let him mature quietly at Jong AZ."
Holland joins fellow Aussie and Socceroo Brett Holman at the club.
