EXCLUSIVE: Newcastle Jet Tarek Elrich is hoping 2010 brings an upturn in A-League attendances to support the top quality performers and entertainment on offer.
Crowds have been disappointing during the 2009 portion of the campaign with the Jets among those to suffer a slump.
Financial pressures and ticket prices are two factors put forward while others say the A-League's novelty has simply worn off.
But although Elrich understands families have to be careful with the pennies these days, he feels the product on offer is as fresh as it has ever been.
"I still believe there is plenty to be positive about," he told au.fourfourtwo.com. "I think the football this year has been entertaining and there are plenty of players who are great to watch.
"Robbie Fowler has come into the A-League and made a tremendous impact. Shane Smeltz cannot seem to stop scoring and what about some of the goals?
"There have been some tremendous strikes. Jobe Wheelhouse scored one for us and then you've others like Carlos Hernandez.
"There's the World Cup coming up as well and another club coming in next season so I hope we will see more fans coming to the games. We have to be positive."
Elrich and his colleagues are back in A-League action against Melbourne Victory on January 10 and Branko Culina is hoping to have influential import Michael Bridges available again after a hamstring injury.
