Mexico lost 3-1 to Honduras on Wednesday to make it five away games without a win and currently lie fourth in the CONCACAF Qualifying Zone on three points.

The top three teams qualify directly for South Africa 2010 while the fourth-placed side face a play-off against a South American nation.

Federation president Justino Compean said: "A lot of people are disappointed.

"Our goal is going to South Africa and we cannot be satisfied by the 15 points we must collect at home. Any accident or draw at home would make things very difficult.

Compean added: "The measures we'll take are always thinking of the priority the national team has.

"Any decision must be made, no matter how hard and difficult it is."

Director of national teams, Nestor de la Torre, explained why Eriksson did not attend a press conference on Thursday morning.

"Eriksson is not here because we spoke to him in Honduras and we'll do a deep analysis of the results we've achieved and the way Mexico played," he said.

"He told us his tactical questions and will be waiting for the decision we will make on a meeting with the Committee of National Teams.

"We all know results are the priority and the goal is playing the World Cup."
