THE TEMPTATION this week is just to write 'Alessandro Del Piero' and end it there, but unfortunately the team of the week features 11 players - unlike Sydney FC. Phoenix fans could argue their entire XI deserves a place - but alas, no. Who did make it? Who didn't? Find out...
GK: Clint Bolton
Almost single-handedly earned his team a point, despite being behind a terribly out of form back four. Sold down the river by Simon Colosimo for the goal. (Covic 'speechless' - Ed...)
RB: Jerome Polenz
The German is acquitting himself well on the right side of the Wanderers defence. Once again, marauded forward dangerously while not ignoring his defensive duties.

LB: Cassio
Turning out to be a regular at this spot. Another terrific performance against Melbourne Heart, characterised more by his hustle and his defensive work than his attacking prowess.

CB: Andrew Durante
Needed to have a big performance up against Emile Heskey - and certainly exceeded expectations, as did his team. A 3-0 away win for the Phoenix their biggest ever - and Durante's performance a true captain's knock up against the most physical presence in the A-League.

CB: Ivan Franjic
Playing out of position for most of the match, Franjic was excellent in the air and on the deck, and came up with one crucial goal-line clearance to deny a certain goal. Certainly seems a good option at this position based on this performance.

RM: Marco Rojas
You'd never guess the Kiwi Messi had played midweek in China. Showed no signs of jetlag - was marauding down the right all night, setting up the opener and inspiring his young teammates. Adelaide's Evan Kostopoulos and Brisbane's Ben Halloran were both excellent down their right wings - a plethora of talented options for this position.

LM: Thomas Broich
Showing the form that earned him the Johnny Warren Medal last year again. Was the fulcrum of Roar's impressive attack, constantly creating chances, and even managed to score himself.

CDM: Osama Malik
A powerhouse in midfield for the Reds, and one of the main reasons why Adelaide are on top of the table. Broke up Heart attacks and started Reds breaks.

CAM: Alessandro Del Piero
The very definition of a one man team. Scored two - the first one an absolute peach, the second just ridiculous skill - and seemed one of only a couple of Sydney players that actually cares about the team. Does not deserve to be bottom of the league with the performances he's putting in.

ST: Jeremy Brockie
Two fine goals - only seems to score them in bunches, doesn't he? - and a performance full of energy despite making the same trip as Rojas.

Banged home a clinical brace and is obviously in the prime of his career. Holger, warum willst du nicht ihn anrufen? Zumindest dieses Rentner Tore schießen.

Manager: Tony Popovic
Creating a side simultaneously tactically astute and passionate, West Sydney wandered over to Perth and came away with the three points, despite Hersi's sending off in the first half. Popa's tactical switches and personnel changes were spot on.
Referee: Chris Beath
In another round of poor refereeing, featuring a number of demonstrably wrong game-changing decisions, you can argue that Beath's error in not sending off Josh Mitchell paled into comparison compared to performances elsewhere. Other than that incident, controlled a quite physical game exceptionally well.
