ROBBIE Fowler was missing through injury but Perth Glory continued their pre-season preparations with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Armadale FC on Sunday afternoon.
Second half goals from Branko Jelic and Jamie Harnwell sealed the victory after Jason Goodwin had given the home side, who play in thw Football West Premier League, the lead on 19 minutes.
Perth Glory coach Dave Mitchell said he was pleased with the hit-out only four days after his squad returned from a camp in China.
"It was a good 90 minute blow-out for us.
"We've had a few games around 60 minutes so it was important to play the full 90," he said.
Needing match fitness, Glory 'keeper Aleks Vrteski lined-up for Armadale and the 21 year old had a vintage game denying his team-mates on a handful of occasions in the first half.
With Michael Baird playing alongside Jelic up front, the Glory's new look strike force showed a lot of promise but the pair were unable to beat the rock solid Vrteski.
Down one nil at half time, the Glory pulled a goal back on 55 minutes when Jelic finished off Naum Sekulovski's cross from the left.
In an entertaining second period both sides had chances to snatch the result but it was Harnwell who decided the match with a headed goal from a Mile Sterjovski free-kick with 10 minutes to play.
Star recruit Robbie Fowler did not play but the Liverpool legend is expected to in the squad for Friday's match away to Adelaide.
"He's ok, he just had a sore hip so he's probably a week short," Mitchell said.
