PERTH Glory recruit Robbie Fowler has starred in an 8-0 pre-season friendly win over Rockingham City, scoring once and playing a part in three others before coming off at half time.
The Liverpool legend and former North Queensland Fury man scored on 21 minutes and assisted goals for Steven McGarry, Michael Baird and Branko Jelic before coming off at the break.
The new front pairing of Jelic and Baird looked sharp together with the latter on the scoresheet on debut for his new club.
After the game, Fowler insisted he and the team would be better for the run out.
"It was not bad," he said. "These games are just about getting fitness and it's been a long time since I've played so it's good to get a run out. I felt all right but it's early days trying to get myself fit.
"We've got a few more weeks before the start of the season so I think the more games we have like this we'll all be better for it."
He said scoring goals would help the confidence and he was happy to play behind the front pairing of Baird and Jelic.
He added: "It's always nice scoring goals. It's more of a confidence thing but as I said before these games are just about getting fitness and making sure no-one gets any injuries, so we're all pleased thus far."
Boss David Mitchell made a number of changes at the break, giving some of the club's trialling players a chance to impress.
Jesse Makarounas took his chance, scoring a brace, while Hanafi Ghazali scored the other.
