EXCLUSIVE: Hayden Foxe admits triathlon could be the next sporting challenge to embrace but the former Socceroos defender is not ready to hang up his boots just yet.
The former West Ham and Leeds United defender will not be part of Perth Glory's plans next season but he is confident he can still offer something to one of the other nine A-League teams.
He is currently working hard to recover from a hamstring problem that has plagued him for the last four months and despite all the pain and frustration, he clearly hasn't lost his sense of humour.
"When I think about the amount of time I've spent in the gym, the pool or on the bike then triathlon could be the way to go," he told au.fourfourtwo.com today.
"Unfortunately I'm not employed to do triathlons. My passion is my football and I'm convinced there's more seasons in me yet.
"Poppa (Sydney FC's Tony Popovic) said to me 'you'll know' when your body's telling you it's time to stop. I don't feel I'm at that point. When that time does come, I will know and I'll make that decision."
Foxe had hoped his injury woes were behind him when he joined Glory two seasons ago but he has again spent large periods battling for fitness.
He has vowed to bounce back though and hopes once fully fit, another A-League coach will pick up the phone. He certainly won't be packing his bags for overseas again though.
"No, that's not the way I'll be going," he said.
Although he won't be a Glory player next season, he is still contracted to the club until the end of June and says he is grateful for the continued assistance from the medical staff.
