EXCLUSIVE: Gold Coast United powerbroker Clive Palmer says Frank Lowy has built a platform that will one day result in the Socceroos winning a World Cup.

And Palmer says Lowy is an inspiration to all the A-League club owners as he looks to pull together his own football revolution at Gold Coast United.
Speaking exclusively with au.fourfourtwo.com, the billionaire praised the leadership FFA chairman had shown in revolutionising the local football scene since he took control of FFA and reinvigorated the sport in 2003.
“I spoke to Frank [Lowy] and he's a great supporter and a great contributor to the community and all of Australia should be proud to know we have Frank Lowy at the top,” Palmer said.
“With his sort of leadership, all we can do is follow and I think then eventually Australia will see the World Cup here.
“And Australians will see that not only are we good sportsmen in the traditional sports like cricket but that we’re good at soccer too and one day we’ll be world champions," said Palmer.
In the meantime, the mining magnate - worth an estimated $6.4 billion - says the Gold Coast is well placed to win the A-League one day.
“You’ve got to remember, there are so many juniors who play soccer rather than Rugby League from the north of the Gold Coast right down to Byron Bay.
“And I want to make sure we have every opportunity so we can win the league.”
It's understood Lowy was instrumental in convincing Palmer to pump some of his fortune into the Gold Coast bid.
And Lowy is believed to have also had a quiet word with WIN Corporation owner Bruce Gordon, a man who could do for the South Coast of NSW what Palmer is now doing at the Gold Coast.
Palmer added: “We should be thankful we have Frank Lowy”.
