GOLD Coast United goalkeeper Scott Higgins has been handed a new one-year contract after repaying the faith shown by Miron Bleiberg.
Higgins, known as Giggles, was brought in as back up to first choice keeper Jess Vanstrattan but the latter has struggled with injury since signing up.
That has meant more opportunities for Higgins and Bleiberg says the keeper has seized his chance well.
"I've always had faith in Scott," the coach told goldcoast.com.au. "He's repaid that faith since I signed him for United and has shown he can come in and do an excellent job.
"He's probably played a bit more than he might have bargained for because of Jess' injuries and while Jess has always been my first choice, Scott has dug in and delivered."
Higgins added: "I came on a one-year deal with something to prove and I've managed to achieve that."
