Despite being currently in ninth place on the table, Fury are still in contention for a finals berth, just four points behind the fourth-placed Jets.

North Queensland travel to Gosford and Wellington in the next fortnight before consecutive home matches and Pasfield hopes the rest will benefit the team in the business end of the season.

"We got away for four days which was good, some of us went home and a few of the others went up to Cairns," Pasfield said. "It was good to give the body a rest, but now we're back in training.

"Everyone came in today and they were refreshed. It's hard to go through a full season without getting away and letting yourself relax for three or four days, I think, will be a benefit for us for sure."

Fury are coming off a morale-boosting 1-0 win over defending champions Melbourne Victory, and Pasfield knows that result will count for little if they can't get something out of this weekend's match against Central Coast Mariners.

"Last week was fantastic the boys all put in a great effort and we just need to back it up now," Pasfield said. "Central Coast away is always going to be hard.

"We've got two away games - one against the Central Coast this weekend and then back over to New Zealand which is going to be a long trip, so we're looking forward to get down there and hopefully putting on back-to-back wins."

Coach Ian Ferguson was pleased with the intensity shown at training after the break and was even happier to see players return from the casualty ward.

"Osama Malik is coming back from a knee injury, Johnny Tambouras is back from a knee injury and so was Ufuk Talay - he graced the park once again - so it was nice to have them back," Ferguson said.

"They're probably not in line (for this weekend's game against Central Coast), but at least they're heading in the right direction which is great.

"They've done a full session today and hopefully they'll get one or two more under their belt and hopefully next week they'll be pushing for a game against Wellington Phoenix."
